The Process of Getting There

Training.  Have you ever trained for anything?  A new job? Potty-trained your toddler?  A marathon?  Daily fitness?  A Tough Mudder?  If so, these types of events require daily discipline in order to be prepared and ready for the goal.  You will need to daily work towards training to get your body ready for the state it needs to be in to complete your event.  If you don’t, you will probably regret it.  It will require something of you, perhaps even when you don’t want to do it.  This can be a challenge for some.  It can be hard to commit to work towards something down the road when you don’t get instant gratification for it now.  BUT…there is a gift in the process of getting there.  What you find along the way could be even more important and/or life-changing than the goal.  Much of life is focused on something in the future instead of the current day, the events of the process, the trials, the joys along the way. Perhaps it is in the everyday that you find yourself and what it might take to run the race?

Reflection:

Can you think of a time that you needed to follow discipline in order to prepare for something down the road?  How did you respond?
Did you procrastinate or was it easy for you?
Are you a future focused person or do you prefer to “stay in the day”?
Spend some quiet space discovering how YOU do life. How do you live in the day to day? Are you a routine loving person or spontaneous? Do you prefer structure or not? Are you enjoying and embracing your process of becoming? Do you fight it? Why? All are important personal observations for yourself. More soon.
